Science Dissemination
Talks and outreach activities for the general public, universities, and conferences
I believe knowledge is only valuable when it can be understood and applied by others. I am passionate about science dissemination — bringing robotics, computer vision, and AI to audiences of all kinds. Here are some of the events I have taken part in.
MarineVision (ECCV 2026)
Invited keynote speaker at MarineVision 2026, the 2nd Workshop on Marine Vision, held in conjunction with the European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV) in Malmö, Sweden (September 2026). The workshop brings together the computer-vision community working on understanding, monitoring, and assessing marine environments — from underwater imaging and 3D reconstruction to species detection and environmental monitoring.
T3chFest
Invited talk at T3chFest 2026, the technology festival held at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (March 2026). In “Inteligencia artificial para la localización visual en robótica submarina” I introduced visual SLAM methods that combine deep learning with geometric constraints for more robust, accurate, and reliable underwater navigation, including uncertainty estimation for real-time error detection.
OCEANS 2025 Brest — Women in Engineering round table
Invited speaker at the Women in Engineering (WIE) round table at OCEANS 2025 Brest (June 2025), discussing careers, challenges, and the role of women in marine technology and engineering.
MAIIND — University of Oviedo
Invited talk for the students of the MAIIND (Máster en Ingeniería de Automatización e Informática Industrial) at the Polytechnic School of Engineering of Gijón, University of Oviedo (February 2025). This one was special: Gijón is my hometown and the University of Oviedo is where I did my bachelor’s degree, so coming back to share my research with the next generation of automation and industrial-computing engineers meant a lot to me.
Pint of Science Aarhus
I organized the first edition of Pint of Science in Aarhus (2023) — the international festival that brings researchers to local pubs to share their work with the general public. Beyond organizing, I also took the stage with my talk “AI and the philosophy of seeing: what would Aristotle think about today’s AI?”, connecting computer vision and the philosophy of perception for a non-specialist audience.
